Semaglutide Weight Loss Injections
Semaglutide is a GLP-1 receptor agonist, that was approved by the FDA in 2021 for a weight loss indication. It works by targeting areas of the brain that regulate appetite and food intake. The dose is increased slowly over time to a maximum of 2.4mg once weekly to reduce the chance of side effects.
What to expect at your visit: You will be weighed, medically assessed and, if cleared by our medical staff, given your first injection and your choice of either coming into the clinic once weekly for follow up injections or having the medication sent to your home. We will teach you how to inject appropriately at your first appointment if at home injections is something you desire.
The most common side effects: stomach upset, nausea/vomiting, diarrhea and or constipation.
NOTE: Patients with a history of thyroid cancer or any type of metastatic cancer are not eligible for this weight loss medication.
